Nirad C Chaudhuri's role with British intelligence agencies

Netaji kin want Nirad files

KOLKATA: The descendants of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Wednesday demanded immediate declassification of CBI files on writer Nirad C Chaudhuri's role with British intelligence agencies to "set the history straight".

"The people of India would like to know who passed on information to British intelligence for which Sarat Chandra Bose, Subhas Bose's elder brother, went to jail," the family said in a press release.

Chaudhuri was Sarat's secretary in 1938. In 1941, a day before Sarat was arrested by the British, Chaudhuri quit and joined the All India Radio. He later shifted to England. "It is clear that he was in secret connivance with the British and leaked information about the whereabouts of Sarat, leading to his arrest," Netaji's grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose said.
